Subtract Percentage from a Number

The subtract percentage calculator finds a new number decreased by a given percent. It uses the following formula:

$\frac{100\%-\text{percent}}{100\%}·\text{number}$

According to the formula, to subtract a percentage from a number you multiply the number by a coefficient less than one.

For example
A coefficient of 0.99 means a decrease of 1%.
A coefficient of 0.5 means a decrease of 50%.

The number 50 decreased by 10%. Find the new number.

Example
A theater ticket costs $100. Children get a 30% discount. Find the price of a child's ticket.
$\frac{100\%-30\%}{100\%}·100=0.7·100=70$
Answer: $70
